Gale Thompson was the founder, executive director, and secretary to the board for Northern Sound Public Radio/KZAZ-FM where she authored successful applications to the FCC for several radio station licenses and a $100,000 federal grant. Ms. Thompson formerly worked as a legal secretary and court transcriptionist; as an administrator for Texas Folklife Resources; at Austin Community College in satellite teleconferencing; and currently works as a Conference Coordinator at the J. J. Pickle Research Campus of the University of Texas at Austin. She graduated from Western Washington University in 1982 with a B.A. in Communications, Media and Art and has attended St. Edwards University to qualify for a Texas Teaching Certificate, and Southwest Texas State University for a M.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies. Born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, she lived in Washington State for 17 years prior to coming to Texas in 1990. She bought her house in Niederwald in 1991 and has been a resident since 1997, adopting two local abandoned dogs, Smiley and Spot.
