(02/20/2002)  Clarence "Bud'' D. Morse Jr., Msgt. USAF (Ret.) Clarence "Bud'' D. Morse Jr., MSgt. USAF (Ret.), age 62, of Austin, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2002, after a brief, yet difficult battle with cancer. Bud retired from the United States Air Force in 1983, after a 20-year career. He then worked as a high school teacher in the Round Rock ISD, where he retired after 15 years. He was most recently employed with the Del Valle ISD, as a high school teacher, until his diagnosis. Bud also kept busy as a volunteer firefighter with the Niederwald VFD, and as a First Responder, Emergency Care Attendant for Niederwald and surrounding communities as a member of the Caldwell County Medical Assist Team. He touched many lives through his volunteer work; his efforts and dedication will be missed. Bud was also an active member of St. Peter the Apostle Church in South Austin. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Bernadine "Bea'' A. Morse, of Austin; parents, Clarence and Charlotte Morse, of California; sister and brother-in-law, Penny and Paul Balint; children, David and Kathi Morse, Mary and Trent Howes, John and Patricia Morse, Charlotte Gerhart, and Richard and Becky Morse; grandchildren, Joshua, Kimberly, Kari, Maranda, Michael, Aaron, and Carter; as well as many others who lovingly referred to him as Paw Paw. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial with full military honors will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2002, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 4600 E. Ben White, with Monsignor Fred Bomar as celebrant. Terry Wright, Jeff Wright, and Nick Cole, of Niederwald VFD; Jeff Turner, of Uhland VFD; and Alvin Thomas and Ken Marple will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to honor his work as a firefighter and ECA, with the Niederwald VFD at 8809 Niederwald Strasse, Niederwald, TX 78640.
