The City of Niederwald extends it's deepest sympathies to the family of Bud Morse, former Emergency Management Coordinator.  Let our prayers help soothe their loss.

"Becoming a city, to keep the country"

Founded around 1900 by German colonists, the name is German and translates to "low brushy area" or "low forest". This name was chosen because of the low forest of mesquites in the area. Niederwald is located on the Hays-Caldwell County line in Texas. The dividing line for the two counties is El Camino Real, present day State Highway 21.

If you live within the City Limits of Niederwald and are planning to build, remodel, or replace any buildings on your property, you must meet with the Building Inspector.

If you plan on dividing or subdividing your property, you must meet with the Planning Commission.

The City of Niederwald has building codes, subdivision and zoning ordinances in effect, along with a fireworks ordinance.

The Planning Commission meets the SECOND Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. - City Hall.

The City Council meets the FIRST and THIRD Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. - City Hall.

THE MEETINGS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND PARTICIPATION IS WELCOME.

The City of Niederwald was proud to present a "Key to the City" and honorary citizenship to Matt and Shelley Hardell of Fort Worth, TX. on February 14, 1999.
